The Nixie's Song By: Holly Black

This book is what happens after the Spiderwick series. First of all, Spiderwick is about 3 kids, Simon and Jared, the twins, and their older sister Mallory. The book is about how they save themselves; and others that come in their way. The Nixie's Song is about Laurie, who wants to be named Lauranantha, and her step-brother Nicholas and how they and Simon and Jared solve "giant problems" with the Sight and a nixie and a wacky man who claims to be a "giant-hunter." A nixie is a water fairy.

Hey, bookworm! As always, I love reading your reviews, but I got a little mixed up by this one... maybe you could help fill in a couple of things?

In the Spiderwick series, in what WAY do the three kids "save" themselves? From what do they need to be saved? And others too?

And in The Nixe's Song, who is Laurie - is she connected to the other three kids or someone different? And when you say they solve "monster problems", do you mean "BIG" problems... or problems with monsters/ghouls, etc? Erm... and what is a "nixie"???

Sorry... as you can see, I'm way confused!!!

To jynx. I'm sorry you are confused. They save themselves by killing a giant they accidentally disturbed. Laurie carries a large field guide about fairies around. It was written by Simon and Jared. Simon and Jared are 2 boys who learn about fairies by looking at their Uncle Arthur's notes and running into them. Laurie is the one who convinces Nick that fairies are real. Laurie is Nick's stepbrother. A nixie is a kind of water fairy.

Thanks, BookWorm! I'm much less confused now and can see that this looks like a fun book. I appreciate your assistance in the details. =)

When will we see your next review? (Hopefully soon.)

Happy 4th of July!!
