Where the Sidewalk Ends By: Shel Silverstein
Where the Sidewalk Ends is a good book with over 100 poems. The pages are decorated with funny pictures by Shel Silverstein. One of the poems that I really liked is called Magical Eraser. A very funny poem is called Homemade Boat. This book is filled with 166 pages of laughter and excitement. It has long poems and short poems, cute poems and hilarious poems. It is one of those books that you can never seem put down until you've read the whole thing from start to finish.

A Cold Winter Day By: Bookworm
It's a cold winter day,
I smell chocolate inside,
I see clouds of snow ride,
Into my mouth.
It's a cold winter day.
I stick out my tongue and what do I feel?
2 marshmallows, a chocolate, a berry, a meal!
It's a cold winter day.
I smell chocolate inside,
I see clouds of snow ride,
Into my mouth.
It's a cold winter day.
I stick out my tongue and what do I feel?

The Nixie's Song By: Holly Black
This book is what happens after the Spiderwick series. First of all, Spiderwick is about 3 kids, Simon and Jared, the twins, and their older sister Mallory. The book is about how they save themselves; and others that come in their way. The Nixie's Song is about Laurie, who wants to be named Lauranantha, and her step-brother Nicholas and how they and Simon and Jared solve "giant problems" with the Sight and a nixie and a wacky man who claims to be a "giant-hunter." A nixie is a water fairy.

Fablehaven By: Brandon Mull
Fablehaven is about a thirteen year old {almost fourteen though} girl named Kendra and an eleven year old boy named Seth. While Mom and Dad go to Scandinavia, Kendra and Seth are stuck with Grandma and Grandpa Sorenson in India. The two meet and see some very odd creatures; naiads, HUGE cows, crying statues, fairies, etc. The children are realy surprised, because Grandma and Grandpa Sorenson had never completly got to know them let alone tell them that they were the owners of the fairyland, Fablehaven! Their boring vacation turns into a wonderous adventure!
Book Expo
On June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, my family and I went to the Book Expo. It was in NYC {New York City} and it is really fun.
1) You get to get the books.
2) The books are free.
3) You get the books signed by the authors.
While we were at New York, we saw 2 Broadway plays, "Legally Blonde" and "Mama Mia". They were my 1st Broadway shows, so it was extra-exciting. Next year, the Book Expo will be in Los Angles. It was all very fun!

Fairest By: Gail Carson Levine
Fairest is about a singer named Aza. Aza isn't very pretty, but her voice is absolutley lovely. Aza's guardians {her parents died} even claimed that Aza was born singing. She was very pale skin with black hair. Only the gnomes {besides her guardians} think that she is pretty because she has "htun" colored hair. Then, one day, there comes a queen who is quite beautiful, but she cannot sing! Aza had taught herself how to make her voice sound like it was coming from anything: books, statues, houses, other people, etc. So when the king becomes sick, Aza has to sing for her at the ceremony. Suddenly, the queen happens to turn on Aza . . .
I liked this book. It is like a version of Snow White. My favorite character was Aza. I think it was mean of the queen to use Aza like that. If you like books that have people that are cruel to the main character, you will probably like this book.

Candyfloss By: Jacqueline Wilson
Candyfloss is about a little girl name Flora a.k.a Floss. Her parents are divorced and her mother lives with her boyfriend Steve, Floss's baby brother Tiger, and Floss herself. Steve, Floss's mom, and Tiger want to go to Australia, but Floss doesn't. Floss goes and lives with her dad {who is poor} for the 6 months the other 3 are in Australia. Floss's dad works at a café, but can't pay the money needed. They live at the café, so that's a big problem. They get kicked out, and have to find a way to survive. Floss has a plane ticket to Sydney, Australia, but she can't bear to leave her dad. Floss's dad's chip butties are really tasty and he still sells them in their chip van. One day, while Floss is still in the van, it bursts into flames. Her dad rescues her in the nick of time. Meanwhile, at school, Floss's best friend, Rhiannon turns into Floss's worst enemy. Fortunately, a girl, Susan, sticks up for Floss, and helps protect her from Rhiannon. I like Floss and feel sorry for her. I am grateful to Susan and I have my doubts about Rhiannon. If you like books that area little bit sad, you would probably enjoy this book.
